How to Become a Foster Family

Have you been thinking about fostering an animal? Did you know that all types of shelter animals could benefit from time in a foster home? Join SDHS staff members, Jesse and Jackie to learn how to become a foster family for San Diego Humane Society!

We will discuss types of foster animals and what is required to care for each, time commitments and our greatest needs at different times of year! We will also discuss the application and training steps, including a short demo on how to access our virtual training courses from home!

Some of our specialty cases need a “unicorn foster” – this is somebody with no other pets, no kids in the home and a fenced in yard! Unicorn fosters are hard to find in San Diego so if this is you please join us to learn more about how you can support our special pets!

Whether you are a unicorn foster, live in a studio apartment or have a home bustling with family members and resident pets we truly have a foster assignment for everybody - don’t miss out on learning how you can support a pet in need!
